ONGC Petro Additions Limited (OPaL) is a large petrochemical company promoted by ONGC, operating one of India’s biggest greenfield petrochemical complexes at Dahej, Gujarat. Established in 2006, OPaL manufactures a wide range of polymer products such as HDPE, LLDPE, and polypropylene under the brand “OPaLene,” along with various chemical by-products. Its dual-feed cracker technology enables the use of multiple feedstocks, making the plant highly flexible and integrated. OPaL plays a key role in ONGC’s downstream expansion strategy by converting hydrocarbons into value-added petrochemicals that serve industries like packaging, automotive, infrastructure, and textiles. Despite operating in a cyclical industry, OPaL remains an important player due to its scale, strategic location in the PCPIR region, and strong promoter backing.
