Understanding the Uses, Types And Advantages Of Hydraulic Stackers

MachinesReview

Most industries require proper handling of large quantities of goods, which might include both raw material and finished good. Although, in the earlier times, industries needed to hire a significant number of laborers to do this back breaking work, today thanks to the advances in material handling technology, the task is handled by machines. These machines, which are known as hydraulic stackers, not only offer greater efficiency and speed but reduce the amount of clutter and noise by significant margins, besides reducing the risk of injury. Whether it is a manufacturing unit or a warehouse, when it comes to proper stacking, moving, or even loading and unloading of goods, hydraulic stackers are undoubtedly the best way to do it.

In order to understand the reason behind the efficiency of hydraulic stackers, it is important to first understand their build and mechanism. These machines generally consist of an engine compartment consisting of all the important electronic and mechanical part. In addition, the hydraulic and gas powered components that are integral to the smooth running of the machine are also located in the engine compartment.  The other vital part of the machine is the low profiled fork having inner reinforcements, which actually helps in lifting the goods and moving them around to be stacked or loaded into trucks.

Although, there are different models, types and brands of Hydraulic stackers available in the market, they can be broadly divided into two categories. These include the electric ones and the non electric ones. While the electric stackers, as the name indicates use battery generated electric power for their working, the non-electric ones depend on the manual power of the operators to be pushed or dragged. Other than this major difference, electric hydraulic stackers can be used on slightly rough and uneven surfaces, while in case of the non-electric ones can be used only on smooth floors and cannot handle too much shifting of goods in a single day.

Irrespective of their means of operation, almost all hydraulic stackers are designed to move through narrow spaces and in the midst of people and other machines. Moreover, the operators do not require any special skills or certificate to operate these machines, although they might need some time to get accustomed to using the various controls. They also come with a detachable platform, which is attached to the fork and can be easily used as an easily adjustable work table. Depending on the size of the machine, a space is provided for the operator to sit, stand or walk behind it.

Modern day hydraulic stackers are designed keeping in mind the three most essential aspects of material handling, which are speed, efficiency and safety of not only the operators but other people working in the vicinity of the machine. They are not only easy to handle, operate and maneuver, but are also eco-friendly as they do not use fuel for their operation. That is why they have become the most important material handling equipment used across a wide range of industries.
